is the second work in the History of Hydroplaning Series commissioned
by Spirit of Detroit, Thunderfest, Inc. My Sweetie, Skip-A-Long,
Such Crust, and Tempo VI round the Belle Isle turn on the Detroit
River in the 1949 Gold Cup. Portraits of Wild Bill Cantrell, Stanley
Dollar, Dan Arena, and Guy Lombardo are hidden in the work. Cantrell
who also raced the indy cars proclaimed that this race was the most
memorable and exciting of this entire career.
